6 Tage

Isles of Mull, Iona & Staffa - x5 days

What you'll do

These set of islands are some of our favourite. For wildlife lovers there's few places than Mull, but the restaurants, beach options, walks and tours all are some of the best in the world. We've created an itinerary over six days here, but you could still enjoy a lot in a shorter time.

Day 1

Day One: While there are a few ways onto the Isle of Mull, by far the easiest and most popular is by ferry from Oban.

Oban itself is well worth stopping by as well, especially to take the time to visit Mccaig's Tower and enjoy the view down into the harbour.

Besichtigung

McCaig's Tower, Oban

Historic viewpoint

Oban is often a stopping point for people heading to the islands (trips to Mull etc all leave from here). As well as checking out the restaurants at the harbour, head up to McCaig's Tower for amazing views over the harbour.

Some history:

During World War II Oban was an important base of the British Army while the town also became a hub for Caledonian MacBrayne ferries after the 1950s.

Once on the island you'll be heading North to Tobermory.

But be sure to stop by and check out the Salen Shipwreck, which makes for an epic photo in almost all conditions. This stretch of coastline is a great place to spot Otters too.

Salens ships

Photogenic shipwreck

You'll pass this shipwreck at Salen Beach on your way to the North of the island of Mull, but it's worth stopping to get a photo.

The wrecks have been a part of the local landscape for many years and, as such, provide a valuable reminder of the historic maritime trades which took place during the island's past.

Cafe

Isle of Mull Cheese and Spirit

Stunning Glass Barn Café

The Isle of Mull Cheese and Spirit Cafe offers the perfect destination for those looking to purchase amazing local products, or have a lovely lunch.

Located near Tobermory on the beautiful, wild island of Mull, visitors can sample their award-winning cheese, feed their goats, and try their hand-crafted whey-based spirits from their in-house distillery.

The Glass Barn Café itself is also a visual feast surrounded by botanicals and creeping grape vines offering panoramic views of Mull Sound. It's well worth stopping by but make sure you check the opening times before you do as it isn't open all the time, and also closes in some seasons.

Besichtigung

Tobermory

Picturesque village

Tobermory - the quaint and colourful village that is so loved on the Isle of Mull - is a must visit location.

Brimming with great shops, restaurants, the iconic distillery and so much more - you can easily lose a day here.

Once up in Tobemory there is lots to see and do, but first stop should be for lunch or a drink at the Isle of Mull Cheese Shop - just outside of the town.

From there head back into town and enjoy the walk to the lighthouse around the coastline. The walk takes about two hours if you stop to enjoy sights along the way - meaning you are ready for a good dinner when you return.

Tobermory Lighthouse

Beautiful lighthouse

Tobermory Lighthouse is well worth a visit if you are in the town. It's a lovely walk - about 3 hours round-trip - through forests and along the stunning coastline. A great place for a picnic and to watch the boats and wildlife pass.
