Hotel
The Vintage Hotel & Spa Lisbon
One of the best!
This is one of our absolute favorite hotels in Lisbon. This cute boutique hotel offers and amazing balance between coziness and amazing design. The staff is always super nice and competent and we feel like everything is possible here as they always have a solution no matter how strange our requests may be.
The hotel has an amazing rooftop and courtyard and the rooms are super cute with amazing interiors inspired by the 70’s.
Another thing to love about this hotel is the spa that is super luxurious yet very relaxing and comfy.
Cafe
NUMA CAFÉ
Our fav breakfast place
When walking by this beautiful café it is easy to see how popular it is. Firstly we didn't have huge expectations for the coffee and food. Mostly because the design of this place is so outstanding and beautiful that we truly thought that was the reason for people visiting.
But boy were we surprises. Here you get one of the absolute BEST coffees in town. Even their plant based lattes are out incredible. Their menu offers lots of fresh food with high quality ingredients.
Staff is so nice and accommodating and we always feel super welcome here. They are also dog friendly which for us means a lot.
No matter if you are vegan or not you are in for a treat here as they have both amazing options with animal products and plant based food.
Besichtigung
Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara
Our Favorite Lisbon Viewpoint
Every time we have a friend or family visiting Lisbon one of the first places we take them is to this viewpoint.
Not only is the whole square stunning with vibrant life and lots of street artists, but the view to the old part of Lisbon is simply incredible. Here you get an amazing idea of how the central part of Lisbon is laid out.
If you are visiting Lisbon during Christmas, you get to enjoy a lovely little Christmas market that we like to visit for the hot wine that we love to enjoy on a cold day.
We like to sit at the kiosk here and have a coffee or a glass of wine during the warm months just to enjoy the view and atmosphere.

Carmo Convent
The ICONIC Convent of Lisbon
At the Carmo Convent you can experience something very special. During the summer months they offer a breathtaking light show. We went and it blew our minds away! The show we watched is their most popular one sharing the history of Portugal.
You almost feel high watching the many colors and music blend into this stunning and very entertaining history lesson. You can also visit the convent during the day and just enjoy the fascinating architecture. The building is a ruin left behind after the tragic earthquake and flooding back in 1755.
Besichtigung
Santa Justa Lift
The Biggest Tourist Trap with a Pro Tip!
Although this elevator is absolutely beautiful we don't recommend you to ride to the top in it,as the line is always excrutiatingly long. Instead, enjoy the structure from the outside and walk to the top along the shopping street of Chiado to access it for free and with no wait, if you wanna enjoy the view to the top. It's actually worth it. There is another elevator you can take free of charge with no waiting:
Directions:
-Walk past the Elevador de Santa Justa to Rua do Carmo. With the lift behind you, turn left and walk along the street.
Take the first right on to Rua Garrett.
Take the first right again on to Calçada do Sacramento. There will be a sign for Largo do Carmo.
At the top of this street you will see the Carmo Convent. Turn right along Travessa Dom Pedro de Menezes.
At the end of the Travessa you’ll see a restaurant called Bellalisa Elevador (it’s the only one there). - - -- Climb the steps to the left and walk through the outside terrace.
You can now cross the bridge over to the viewing platform.
You’ll still have to pay the €1,50 fee to access the viewing platform but everything else is free. Even from the bridge you can see some impressive views. To leave, just come back the exact same way.

Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo
The tram photo
What can we say. You need a photo here. Otherwise you haven't been to Lisbon ;)
For reffrence let do a little history lesson. Rua da Bica Duarte Belo, also known as Bica Funicular, is a charming street located in the Bairro Alto neighborhood of Lisbon, Portugal. The street is known for its steep incline and its historic funicular railway, which connects the Bairro Alto with the Cais do Sodré neighborhood.
The Bica Funicular, also known as Elevador da Bica, is a historic cable car that has been operating since 1892. The funicular offers visitors a unique and picturesque way to experience the city, as it climbs the steep hill, passing by traditional houses and terraces, offering beautiful views of the city.
Rua da Bica Duarte Belo is also a great place to experience the traditional atmosphere of Lisbon. The street is lined with traditional houses, small shops, and restaurants where visitors can sample traditional Portuguese food and drink.
The street is also popular among photographers and visitors looking for a unique perspective of Lisbon. It's a great place to capture the city's unique architecture and charming atmosphere.

Rua do Almada
Cutest Street in Lisbon
This is Rua do Almada in Lisbon. This wonderful street is so freaking scenic with its many stairs and beautiful light hiding the street during the day. It is also located in one of our favorite areas and offers you the opportunity to take wonderful Instagram photos.
We decided to mention this here in our guide, as it is one of those streets you might not pass automatically since it goes parallel with a main street.
This one however is much prettier and so charming. We love walking on the many stairs in the area here, while getting a peak into the life of the locals who still live here to a high degree.

Tejo River
Beautiful Promenade Walk
This is probably one of the things we did the most when living in Lisbon. Several times a week, we would go for a walk along the Tejo River. We would start at either Praça do Comércio or at Cais do Sodre and often walk all the way to Belem. It's a wonderful walk with lots of things to enjoy on the way.
You'll meet families, runners, and bikers along the way, as well as several restaurants, cafes, and small food stands. You will also walk under the 25th of April Bridge, which we personally love.
This is something to do no matter what season it is. As long as there's no rain, this is a wonderful walk.
The video below shows more clips from the walk.
Besichtigung
Monument of Discovery
Amazing Sunset Spot
Here we have another place that we would visit daily when living in the neighbourhood of Ajuda. We of course think that the tower is wonderful, but we actually come to enjoy the atmosphere that is especially great during sunset.
Lots of people will come to this river from the location and enjoy a walk, a glass of wine, or some food in this area.
But what about the actual monument? This is basically a romantic way of memorizing the great era of the Portuguese discovery. It features the battles, the exploration, and the conquests that Portugal made during their greatest time.
You can even climb to the top if you wish. We have never done that, but if you don't have a drone, we recommend you to do so, because when looking down at the square from the top of the monument, you will see the beautiful old map spread out on the tiles of the square.
Restaurant
Mestrias Tasca Nova
Our Go To Tasca
We have made a whole video praising this restaurant. We used to eat here at least once a week, when we lived in Lisbon. Everything on the menu is super tasty. The food comes from the least populated region of Portugal, Alentejo. A region where they know how to cook, and that is probably why the food is so delicious! In the summer, you can sit outside on the cute and very local square, which we highly recommend.
Besichtigung
Belém Tower
A Symbol of Discovery
Belem Tower, officially called the Tower of Saint Vincent, is a UNESCO world heritage site. It was built during the peak of the Portuguese renaissance.
It is actually often seen as a symbol of the discovery age of Portugal but was at some point used as a prison.
The most cruel prisoners were placed in the lower basement of the tower, and it is said to have been the death penalty as they would drown once the tide came in and flooded the basement.
We used to live in the area and had our daily evening walk passing this beautiful structure, mostly during sunset which is so incredibly beautiful!
Restaurant
A Nossa Casa
Probably Our Favorite Lisbon Restaurant
This is hands down our favorite restaurant in all of Lisbon. The food here is out of this world. Natascha and Antonio, who are the owners, just understand how to combine fantastic food with great wine and an atmosphere you won't find anywhere else.
The food is a modern and creative hybrid of Brazilian and Portuguese recipes.
Eating here is like a family/friends celebration. It’s so cozy and homey and we would go as far as to promise you that you will love every moment of eating here.
We can literally recommend every single dish on the menu card, and our mouths are just watering writing this. Make sure to book well in advance, as this a popular spot.

Bairro Alto
The Neighborhood of Bars & Party
Bairro Alto, is an old neighborhood located in the heart of Lisbon. And while it has lots of good restaurants and small stores, this is where we come to party.
Every weekend, the narrow, cute streets are turned into one big party scene with a lot of people having fun dancing and drinking. There are hundreds of small bars and a few small clubs.
We have met many interesting people here, and some of our funniest moments living in Lisbon are from this very neighborhood.
