Miradouro Eira do Serrado

Romantic ocean view paradise

The Miradouro Eira do Serrado is a must-see for any visitor to the island of Madeira. With a breathtaking view stretching over the Câmara de Lobos Valley, this panoramic lookout has become one of the most romantic spots on the famous island. Visitors can marvel at the lush green hills and impressive mountains along with the ocean views in all its glory. Taking photos or simply enjoying the fresh air and watching the sunset from this unique location will definitely make for an unforgettable experience.

Make sure to check the weather and cloud conditions in the area via a webcam before heading out.

For those seeking adventure, the Nun’s Path hike is a must-try! It’s a relatively easy downhill trail with stunning views, perfect for a half-day experience.

Here’s how you do it: take bus 81 from Funchal up to Eira do Serrado. Start by visiting the viewing platform, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the valley below. From there, the real adventure begins—a 2.5 km downhill hike leading you to the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras.

Once at the bottom, you can hop back on bus 81 to return to Funchal. The whole trip, including the bus ride, costs just €5.20—easily one of the best ways to spend your time and money on Madeira.

For the more experienced hikers looking for an extra challenge, you can opt to hike back up the Nun’s Path. Trust me, it’s a workout, but the views and sense of accomplishment are worth it!

Restaurante Vila Da Carne

Delicious Portuguese Cuisine

If you’re a meat lover visiting Madeira, I highly recommend Restaurante Vila Da Carne in Câmara de Lobos. This place is a paradise for fans of high-quality, perfectly cooked meat, offering a mix of traditional Madeiran and Mediterranean dishes.

The standout here is their “espetada”, a Madeiran classic of beef skewered on laurel sticks and grilled to perfection. But my personal favorite? The filet steak served on a sizzling hot stone—a must-try! Cooking it to your own preference at the table adds an interactive and fun twist to an already delicious experience.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with attentive staff and a spacious dining area. Plus, the views over the Câmara de Lobos bay make dining here feel extra special. Whether you choose to sit indoors or outdoors, the setting is perfect for a relaxed meal.

Restaurante Vila Da Carne also caters to various dietary preferences, with options for vegetarians and those avoiding gluten. The service is excellent, and they even offer perks like free Wi-Fi, parking, and accessibility for families with children.

If you’re planning a visit, I suggest making a reservation, especially during peak times. This place truly delivers on taste, atmosphere, and value, making it a memorable dining experience on Madeira. And don’t forget to try that filet on the hot stone—you won’t regret it!
