3 Tage

Reykjanes, Snæfellsnes & Golden Circle day tours

What you'll do

This itinerary is built up of 3x day trips. This means you always return to Reykjavik in the evening and head out on a new adventure the following day.

It doesn't matter which order you do the tours in. You can swap around as you like. I would recommend to check the weather at the start of your trip. It can be different conditions in the different areas so you may want to schedule the tours depending on that.

Rental Car

You need your own car to do this tour. I recommend Blue Car Rental, they have great cars at good prices. Click this link for 5% discount applied at checkout: https://www.bluecarrental.is/?affiliate=asasteinars

Day 1

Reykjanes Peninsula

Reykjanes has become extra popular due to the recent volcanic eruptions. This may sound scary but there's actually no need to worry, life in Iceland continues as usual even though we have an erupting volcano.

The eruptions are very hard to predict when they will happen and if there's an active eruption some roads may close. So before traveling around Reykjanes it's a good idea to check https://safetravel.is/ for up to date conditions.

At some eruptions, the public has been allowed to walk to the volcano to see it. This is really an amazing experience and if it's allowed then I can highly recommend it.

If not the rest of Reykjanes peninsula is also very interesting to explore and I think you will have a great day here.

Hertz Car Rental

Best Car Rental

My favourite car rental company is without a doubt Hertz Car Rental!

Hertz is one of few rental companies that have a counter inside the airport, so you'll be much faster at picking up your vehicle on arrival.

They also have an extensive coverage around Iceland and a very good customer service. Most (If not all) of the cars come with unlimited mileage and zero hidden cost.

The unlimited mileage is a huge plus in Iceland as it can always be so tempting to drive down just one more road!

Don't miss out on this beautiful drive

Kleifarvatn is close to Reykjavik and an area many tourists miss. It's a really beautiful drive and there's actually a lot to see in this area.

Heiße Quelle

Blue Lagoon Iceland

One of the Wonders of the World

Blue Lagoon hardly needs an introduction. Even though it's quite a touristy place with large crowds it's still a super nice experience. The blue, silica rich water is perfectly tempered and very soft on the skin. Make sure to book your entry in advance as the blue lagoon often is sold out in peak season.

5

Heiße Quelle

Brimketill

Lava rock pool

It looks tempting to get in for a swim but it's cold sea water and also quite dangerous as the waves break into the pool. It's however a cool spot and is best captured by drone.

6

Besichtigung

Valahnúkamöl

A grand cliff formation

Next to the lighthouse is an impressive cliff formation shooting out of the ocean. Visit on a stormy day to see the waves splashing up.

7

Reykjanes Lighthouse

Watching over Reykjanes

Reykjanesviti is the old lighthouse of Reykjanes. Standing tall up on a hill.

8

Gunnuhver is a steaming red crater on the Reykjanes peninsula. It has a constant flow of hot steam coming out of it.

9

Stampar car parking

Old volcanic craters

Two old volcanic craters, easy accessible from the road.

10

Besichtigung

Garður Old Lighthouse

Cool moody lighthouse

A cool lighthouse at the tip of Reykjanes peninsula. Go here on a stormy day when the waves are splashing up. The pictures from here usually have a cool moody vibe to them.

Exeter Hotel

Exeter Hotel

Great hotel at perfect location in Reykjavik. It's right downtown and with a view over the harbour, exactly where you want to be. There's also a great cafe and bakery in the building as well as a restaurant.
